Other Treatments

Concentrated organic liquid seaweed contains dozens of beneficial minerals and trace elements that are integral to the efficiency of several photosynthetic processes within the lawn. They provide the grasses with complex beneficial micronutrients and a balanced supply of amino acids. Organic biostimulants reinvigorate the lawn and when used regularly throughout the year they help to maintain excellent turf condition. They encourage healthy shoot and root growth and significantly increase the mass of the root network and the density of the grass blades. Liquid seaweed also increases the plants’ defensive responses against stresses such as drought and disease. When applied to the lawn the organic biostimulant immediately begins to stimulate the bacteria and microflora in the soil, and in turn, this helps to release much of the nutrient content which is otherwise locked up in the soil. Our biological control for Leatherjackets seeks out the leatherjackets and attack the pest by entering natural body openings. Once inside, they release bacteria that stops the pest from feeding, quickly killing the pest.

The nematodes then reproduce inside the dead pest and release a new generation of hungry infective nematodes, which disperse and search for further prey.

If sustained this life cycle can lead to significantly reduced chafer grub populations in subsequent years.

There are a number of Chafer Grub species with varying levels of resistance to nematodes. The 'Garden Chafer' is the most commonly found chafer grub and is very susceptible to nematodes, but there are other minor species that are more resistant.

If after your initial treatment you continue to have an infestation it is highly likely you have a more resistant strain of chafer, such as the 'Welsh Chafer' or 'Summer Chafer'. It is advised to apply at double strength and more frequently in order to try to combat these grubs however this is still not guaranteed to combat the more resistant strains.

Biological control of ant populations does not kill the ants as seen with other pest applications. The ants do not tolerate the nematodes near their nests and move their nests away from these areas.
